What is the recommended computer configuration for DJI Terra?

DJI Terra is supported on Windows 7(64-bit) or later.
Your computer should meet certain hardware requirements for optimal use of some of the advanced functions such as reconstruction.

No less than 8GB

No less than 16GB

No less than 32GB

💡[Tips]
1.The requirements for 2D map reconstruction / 3D model reconstruction/ real-time 3D mapping are equally applicable to real-time 2D mapping. There are no mandatory requirements on the graphics card for real-time 2D mapping. However, using a low-performance computer for real-time 2D mapping may result in delayed performance. If using an NVIDIA graphics card, the processing speed will be faster.
2. It is recommended to use the graphics cards listed above.
3. Make sure that the graphics card driver is up-to-date regardless of the models.

4. Currently, only Windows system computers are supported. Kylin systems and MacOS systems are not supported.

FAQs

Why is DJI Terra not compatible with AMD Graphics Cards (GPU)?

The DJI Terra software is developed and operated based on CUDA platform (a parallel computing platform and application programming interface created by NVIDIA), which is specialized for NVIDIA graphics cards, thus DJI Terra is not compatible with AMD graphics cards.

Does DJI Terra support hash rate limited graphics cards?

Yes, it supports hash rate limited graphics cards while the following requirements must be met:

The computer uses Windows 10 (64-bit) or higher system, and the computer also needs to meet minimum specification requirements.

Minimum specification requirements: 32GB RAM, 4GB VRAM (must be an NVIDIA graphics card with a compute capability of 6.1 or higher)

Recommended specification requirements: 64GB RAM or higher, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2070 or higher.

💡 [Tips] The limitation of hash rate only applies to cryptocurrency mining scenarios, which will not affect the operation of DJI Terra, thus there will be no impact on its performance.

Does DJI Terra support performing reconstruction missions with multiple graphic cards or CPUs?

DJI Terra has no limit on the number of graphics cards, as long as they meets the hardware requirements. DJI Terra also supports using external graphics cards, as long as they can be recognized normally (also need to meet the hardware requirements).

DJI Terra supports the reconstruction of large areas, resulting in large amounts of data. In the absence of cluster support, in order to maximize the reconstruction speed, you can choose to install multiple graphics cards to improve the reconstruction speed.

Using multiple GPUs for reconstruction can speed up the process, but the improvement is not linearly correlated to the number of additional graphic cards, as reconstruction also depends on other hardware including CPU, memory, or hard disk. Multiple CPUs are also used together.

How can I check the compute capability of NVIDIA graphics cards if I want to use it with DJI Terra?

DJI Terra requires a NVIDIA graphics card with a compute capability of 3.0 or higher. For DJI Terra v3.7.0 and higher, it is recommended to use a graphics card with a compute capability of 5.0 or higher.

Compute capability is an indicator used to evaluate the performance of graphics cards. Mid-to-high-end graphics cards all meet the requirement of 3.0 compute capability, while low-end graphics cards do not meet the requirement.
