Adaptive Gain

Applicable Products

DJI Mic Mini 2S,DJI Mic 3

How to Use

DJI Mic Mini 2S/DJI Mic 3 supports adaptive gain control, which can be set via the receiver, the DJI Mimo app, or DJI OsmoAudio™ devices. This feature is disabled by default, and once enabled, you can select either Automatic or Dynamic modes.

Automatic Mode (Prevent Audio Clipping): The mode is ideal for environments with large fluctuations in audio volume. It can smoothly manage sudden changes in sound, suppressing unexpected fluctuations to ensure consistent and balanced audio output. For example, it’s useful during sports interviews where sudden noises like engine sounds or a starter pistol may occur.

Dynamic Mode (Ensure Consistent Loudness): It automatically adjusts the audio output’s dynamic range based on changes in input signal levels, increasing or decreasing the gain to compensate for signals that are too low or too high. This mode is suitable for quiet environments, such as recording studios.

[Tips] :

It is recommended to enable 32-bit float internal recording or adaptive gain control on the receiver, automatically adjusting gain to prevent clipping.

Once adaptive gain control is enabled, it is not able to adjust gain on the receiver.

When the transmitter is directly connected to some DJI OsmoAudio™ devices, the above two adaptive gain control modes will not be available. However, the device’s built-in clipping control will take effect. For details, please refer to DJI OsmoAudio™ Compatibility List.

Timecode

Applicable Products

DJI Mic 3

How to Use

DJI Mic 3 features a newly added, built-in high-precision timecode function that supports mainstream timecode output modes (L-IN, LTC-OUT, ATC-OUT).

Once Timecode is enabled, the receiver will automatically synchronize the timecode with the transmitters, and the internal recording files on the transmitters will also include timecode information, with a deviation of less than one frame within 24 hours. After multiple transmitters are synchronized using the same timecode source, footage can be aligned effortlessly in post-production software, greatly improving efficiency for multi-camera and multi-track editing.

DJI Mic 3 can receive timecode information from other timecode generators (such as Tentacle Sync, Deity, etc.), and can also function as a standalone timecode generator. It also supports timecode synchronization with OsmoAudio™ camera devices.

Video Footage

[Tips] DJI Mic 2, DJI Mic Mini, and DJI Mic do not support the timecode function.

To synchronize timecode on a third-party timecode generator with DJI Mic 3, please refer to the following steps:

1. Enable the timecode function on the receiver or in the DJI Mimo app.

2. Set the same frame rate on the receiver to ensure consistency across all recording devices.

3. Select the appropriate output mode based on whether your camera or the recording device supports timecode input:

• If the camera or the recording device supports timecode input:

① Set the output mode to L-OUT.

② Use a USB-C or dedicated cable to connect the receiver’s timecode output to your camera or recording device’s timecode input.

③ OsmoAudio devices, Ronin 4D, Sony FX3 (requires a specific USB cable), and other devices support this connection.

④ For OsmoAudio devices, open the timecode interface on the device before connecting the cable to start syncing.

• If the camera or the recording device does not support timecode input:

① Set the output mode to A-OUT.

② Connect the receiver to your camera with a 3.5mm audio cable.

③ In A-OUT mode, the timecode signal will use one audio channel. You can later align and sync your footage in post-production using the beep sound from that channel.
