2. Preparing Your Device
2.1 Device Compatibility
Osmo Mobile 8 is compatible with most mainstream smartphones on the market. It is recommended to use smartphones with a width of 67-84 mm, thickness of 6.9-10 mm, and weight of 170-300 g.

2.2 Device Charging
Please use the included charging cable to charge the gimbal until the power indicator turns off.
Tip: It takes approximately 2.5 hours to make a full charge.
2.3 Unfolding and Folding
Unfolding: Unfold the gimbal, and it will automatically power on.
Folding: Press and hold the M button, and the gimbal will automatically rotate to a foldable position and power off.
2.4 Mount the Phone
① Pull out the built-in tripod and place it on a stable, level surface.
② Mount the phone holder in the middle of the phone, ensuring the phone camera is facing the correct direction.
③ Align the magnetic mount and attach your phone to the gimbal. The mode light will light up, and the gimbal will begin stabilizing your phone.
2.5 Connecting DJI Mimo
Download and open the DJI Mimo app, enable Bluetooth on your phone, and connect your Osmo Mobile 8 to your phone.
2.6 Firmware Update
A prompt will appear in DJI Mimo when new firmware is available. Follow the on-screen instructions to update the firmware.
Notes:
• When there is firmware update available for the multifunctional module, install it to the phone clamp. During the update of the gimbal firmware via the app, the firmware for the multifunctional module will be updated accordingly.
• Ensure that the battery level indicator shows solid green before the update. Do not close DJI Mimo or switch it to the background during the update.
• If the update fails, restart DJI Mimo, reestablish the Bluetooth connection, and retry.

3.3 Low-Angle Shooting
Osmo Mobile 8 supports low-angle shooting, making it easy to capture unique angles and bring more creativity and a sense of closeness to your footage.
3.4 Gimbal Follow Mode
Upon powering on, the gimbal defaults to PTF mode. Press the M button once to switch to PF, FPV, or SpinShot modes. Quickly adjust the gimbal to match your needs and capture every exciting moment.
3.5 DJI Mimo ActiveTrack
Enable ActiveTrack in the DJI Mimo app, and let the gimbal expertly control your phone to precisely track people or other subjects. Experience the freedom of capturing moments as if you have a personal photographer by your side, wherever you go!
3.6 Apple DockKit Tracking
iPhone users do not need to mount the multifunctional module. You can enable tracking directly in the system camera or third-party apps to keep people centered in the frame.
Notes:
• Device requirement: iPhone 12 or later (excluding iPhone SE (3rd generation) and iPhone 16e), with iOS 18.5 or later.
• This feature cannot be used simultaneously with the tracking feature of Multifunctional Module or DJI Mimo.
3.7 Remote Control With Watch
You can use DJI Mimo on an Apple Watch to view the camera feed, control the gimbal, and enable ActiveTrack remotely. Enjoy unmatched convenience in capturing your moments. (The tutorial video takes OM 7 Series as an example.) Check the watch compatibility list.
4. Using Accessories
4.1 DJI OM Multifunctional Module
Using with Multifunctional Module unlocks enhanced lighting, audio recording, and other functions, elevating the quality of your video recordings to new heights.
Notes:
• The tracking and shooting features of the Multifunctional Module are not supported for use within the DJI Mimo app.
• The Multifunctional Module can perform ActiveTrack on pets such as cats and dogs.
4.2 DJI OM Magnetic Quick-Release Mount
If you have purchased the magnetic quick-release mount, effortlessly attach your iPhone to the gimbal for a streamlined setup process.
Tip: This accessory is designed for iPhone 12 and later models with MagSafe support, as well as Apple’s official MagSafe cases.

6. FAQs
· Does the Osmo Mobile 8 need balancing?
Osmo Mobile 8 uses a high-torque motor, so precise balancing isn’t required. When using the magnetic phone clamp, just roughly align it with the center of your phone and attach it. If your phone is heavy or you’ve added a filter, it’s recommended to use a counterweight.
