02 Preparing Your Device

2.1 Device Charging

Use the provided charging cable to connect the USB-C port to a charger. The battery charges to 80% in 18 minutes and to 100% in 32 minutes. A USB-C charger that supports the PD fast-charging protocol is recommended.

2.2 Powering On/Off

Rotate the touchscreen clockwise or press the Shutter/Record Button once to power on. When not recording, press and hold the Shutter/Record Button or rotate the touchscreen counterclockwise to power off.

 

2.3 Product Activation

Before first use, activate the camera in the DJI Mimo app. Click here to download the app.

If the Osmo FrameTap has already been paired, turn it off before activation. Otherwise, your phone may not be able to detect the camera. Turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on your phone, run the DJI Mimo app, tap the camera icon on the home screen, and follow the prompts to connect and activate the camera.

 

2.4 Firmware Update

After the camera is connected to the DJI Mimo app, a prompt will appear if a firmware update is available. Follow the on-screen instructions to update the firmware for the best experience.

03 Product Usage

3.2 Shooting Settings

3.2.1 Setting the Shooting Mode

By default, the camera starts in Video mode. Tap the icon in the bottom-left corner to switch shooting modes. Supported modes include Photo, Video, Low-Light Video, Slow Motion, Panorama, and Timelapse (Hyperlapse/Timelapse/Motionlapse).

 

3.2.2 Setting the Shooting Parameters

Swipe up from the bottom of the camera view to open the settings page for shooting parameters. The available settings vary by shooting mode.

3.2.3 Setting the Image and Audio Parameters

Swipe left in the camera view to open the image and audio settings page, where you can adjust options such as Beautify, App Glamour Effects, Film Tone, and D-Log color mode.

 

3.3 Gimbal Mode

The gimbal uses three-axis mechanical stabilization to reduce shake while shooting. Swipe down from the top of the camera view to switch between different gimbal modes.

 

3.4 Intelligent Shooting Features

3.4.1 ActiveTrack

When ActiveTrack is enabled, the camera automatically follows the selected subject. It can track people, vehicles, pets, and other subjects across the full focal range, with tracking supported at up to 12× zoom.

 

3.4.2 Multi-Person Tracking and Spotlight Follow

When Multi-Person Tracking is enabled, the camera recognizes multiple people in the frame and keeps the group centered. You can register up to three key subjects and give them tracking priority.

 

3.4.3 Intelligent Autofocus

Osmo Pocket 4P features a new-generation focusing system with multiple focus modes:

· Single: Focuses once and then stops autofocusing. Ideal for scenes where the focus position does not need to change.

· Continuous (default): Maintains continuous focus. Ideal for moving subjects.

· Subject Lock Tracking: Automatically locks onto and tracks the person in the center of the frame.

· Registered Subject Priority: Gives focusing priority to a registered subject.

· Product Showcase: Ideal for live product demos, allowing focus to shift quickly to items in front of the lens.

How to Set: Swipe left in the camera view to enter Pro mode, then select Focus Mode.

 

3.4.4 Gesture Control

Once Gesture Control is enabled, you can control recording remotely with gestures:

· Palm: Raise your hand and open your palm to start or stop tracking.

· V Gesture: Trigger a 3-second countdown for a photo or start or stop recording.

Note: Gesture Control works across all focal lengths and can be limited to registered subjects only.

 

3.4.5 Glamour Effects

· Beautify

Swipe left in the camera view to enable Beautify and adjust Smoothness (5 levels), Brightness (5 levels), and Skin Tone (Original/Tanned/Warm/Light/Fair).

Note: Beautify and Film Tone cannot be enabled at the same time.

 

· App Glamour Effects

After App Glamour Effects is enabled, the effect does not appear on the camera screen in real time. Connect to the DJI Mimo app to preview it. This feature is available only in Video and Low-Light Video modes.

 

3.4.6 Film Tone

The camera features six built-in Film Tone presets: CC Film, NC Film, Pastel, Warm Tone, Movie, and Retro. Each preset offers four intensity levels: 30%, 50%, 70%, and 100%.

How to Set: Swipe left in the camera view and select Film Tone.

Note: This feature is available in Normal Video and Slow Motion modes, but not in Panorama, Photo, Low-Light Video, or Timelapse modes.

 

3.5 Connecting Accessories

3.5.1 Connecting to DJI Mic Series

The camera supports direct Bluetooth connection to up to two DJI wireless microphone transmitters. Supported models include DJI Mic 2, DJI Mic Mini, DJI Mic 3, DJI Mic Mini 2, and DJI Mic Mini 2S transmitters. No receiver is required.

How to Connect:

- Swipe down on the screen to enter System Settings. Tap Wireless Microphone and enter linking mode.

- Follow the on-screen instructions to link. Once the connection is successful, return to the main screen. A volume bar will appear at the top. After the first successful linking, the devices reconnect automatically the next time they are powered on.

3.5.2 Connecting to Osmo FrameTap

Osmo FrameTap is a compact, portable viewfinder remote controller. Once connected, you can remotely preview the camera view, control the gimbal, switch shooting modes, and double-tap the screen to select a tracking subject.

How to Connect:

- Turn on Osmo FrameTap. It will automatically search for nearby devices. Select your device from the list, check the verification code on the camera, and tap Accept to complete the connection.

- After the first successful connection, the controller and camera reconnect automatically the next time they are powered on, and the camera view will be displayed.

3.5.3 Connecting to Fill Light

When shooting in low-light environments, it is recommended to use the fill light. Unfold the fill light and attach it to the contact area on the back of the gimbal arm, and it will turn on automatically. The fill light supports three levels of color temperature and brightness adjustment.

3.5.4 Replacing Wide-Angle Lens/ND Filter/Black Mist Filter

Before installation, rotate counterclockwise to remove the original protective lens. When installing a new lens, press it fully into place and rotate clockwise to lock it. Make sure both sides of the lens and the camera lens surface are clean and free of debris.

 

3.5.5 More Accessories 

· Osmo Pocket 4 Handle With 1/4" Thread: Provides a more comfortable grip.

· Osmo Pocket 4 Battery Handle: Extends recording time by about 150 minutes and supports hot swapping.

· Osmo Mini Tripod: Provides stable support for static shots.

· Osmo Pocket 3 Expansion Adapter: Enables expanded connectivity with a wide range of accessories.

3.6 Footage Storage and Export

3.6.1 Footage Storage

The camera comes with 103 GB of available storage and also supports expanding storage by installing a microSD card. Recommended microSD card models are listed in the table below.

3.6.2 Footage Playback

Swipe right in the camera view to enter Playback and view your recorded footage.

 

3.6.3 Footage Export

After recording, you can transfer the photos and videos to your phone or computer for saving.

·  Wired transfer: Use a USB 3.1 cable to connect to a computer. Transfer speed from internal storage can reach up to 800 MB/s.

·  Wireless transfer: Transfer over Wi-Fi at speeds of up to 90 MB/s.

3.7 Powering Off and Storage

Before storing the camera, remove the fill light and wide-angle lens first, then power off the camera.

Does Osmo Pocket 4P feature a physical dual-camera system? Do both lenses record simultaneously?

Osmo Pocket 4P features a physical dual-lenses design (20mm wide-angle lens + 60 mm med-tele lens). Only one lens operates during shooting. The device automatically switches to the corresponding lens based on the zoom level.

 

How long can Osmo Pocket 4P record when using its built-in storage?

Osmo Pocket 4P has 103 GB of built-in storage. At the standard bitrate, it can record and save up to approximately 570 minutes of 1080p/24fps video or 210 minutes of 4K/60fps video.

Note: The available recording time does not reflect battery life.

 

How much operating time can the Battery Handle add to Osmo Pocket 4P?

When recording 1080p/24fps video, Osmo Pocket 4P can record for up to 210 minutes on a single charge. When used with the fully charged Battery Handle, the operating time can be extended by an additional 130 minutes.

Note: Tested at room temperature of 25° C (77° F) and 1080p/24fps (16:9), with Wi-Fi off and screen off.
