Unlocking a GEO Zone on Your DJI Drone
1. What documentation should be provided if I need to unlock the red restricted zone?
Please upload the official documentation showing your authorization to fly in the red restricted zone from the local government, such as the aviation department, airport, or public safety agencies.
2. What should I do if I want to fly the drone in a location that is not in the GEO zone but is locally restricted?
The GEO system is advisory only. Each user is responsible for checking official sources and determining what laws or regulations might apply to his or her flight. In some instances, DJI has selected widely-recommended general parameters without making any determination of whether this guidance matches regulations that may apply specifically to you. Please kindly fly your aircraft carefully while complying with the local laws and regulations. Thanks for your understanding.
3. Where can I find the rejection reason if the unlocking request is rejected?
You can check it in any of the following ways:
1) Please check the notification email in your email box (The system will automatically send a notification email);
2) Check it on the DJI's official website (Go to Fly Safe and Unlock Request, then click "View" under "Operation" to enter "Check feedback here".)
4. Why is the drone unable to take off after the unlocking request is approved?
Please kindly try the following steps:
1) Check whether the unlocking license is activated;
2) Check whether the drone is in the unlocked area.
3) Check whether the GPS signal is strong. Please do not test it indoors;
4) Check whether the corresponding DJI Email account is logged in;
5) Check whether the corresponding drone is connected;
6) Check whether the unlocking license is expired or does not start.
5. What should I do if an error: "Account not logged in" occurs when importing or enabling the unlocking license?
1) Please launch the app and try again;
2) Re-login the DJI account;
3) Re-install the DJI app.
6. What should I do if the unlocking license cannot be imported and the app prompts a "Disconnected" warning?
If the app prompts a "Disconnected" warning, it can be determined that there is an error with the Flight Controller Serial Number. Please go to the DJI App > General Settings > About >Flight Controller Serial Number and check whether the serial number submitted on the DJI's official website matches the Flight Controller Serial Number of the connected drone. If not, please submit an unlocking request again.
7. What should I do if my drone cannot take off outside the GEO zone?
Please turn off the unlocking license and troubleshoot as follows:
1) Log out and re-login your DJI account.
2) Update the DJI app, fly safe database version, and the firmware of the drone and remote controller to the latest version.
3) Make sure that the mobile device has a good internet connection.
4) Power on the drone and the remote controller, and link the remote controller with the drone again. Then connect to the mobile device, and launch the DJI app.
5) Uninstall and reinstall the DJI app.

1) Link the drone with the remote controller successfully, and make sure that the account logged into the DJI app is the account that is filled in when submitting the unlock request.
2) Update the DJI app, fly safe database, and the firmware of the drone and remote controller to the latest version.
3) Ensure the DJI app has a good internet connection.
4) Restart the drone, remote controller, and the DJI app.
5) Uninstall the DJI app and then install it again.
6) Try using another mobile device.
9. What should I do if I want to unlock the drone to fly above 500 meters?
Please submit a Custom Unlocking request to fly your drone over 500 meters.
10. Which SN (serial number) should I use for unlocking?
Make sure that the Flight Controller Serial Number is entered when submitting the unlocking request.
To Find the Flight Controller Serial Number: DJI App > General Settings > About >Flight Controller Serial Number.
Please note that there is no Letter "O" or "I" in the serial number, and all should be the number "0" or "1".
